Historically, two classrooms have been named in the Barry Block since its construction in 1941.
The Krishandev Singh Lecture Room was generously presented by Sardarni Lachmi Devi of Vahali in memory of her son in 1945. Additionally, the Jubbal Geography Room was generously presented by Rana Sir Bhagat Chandra, KCSI, Raja Sahib of Jubbal State, Simla Hills in 1941.
Now the initiative of naming has been revived by Mr Syed Babar Ali. The first contribution for the HYT fundraising initiative has been made by him to honour his beloved teacher, Chaudhri Shahbaz Khan. Named after him for 20 years, the Shahbaz Khan Classroom was inaugurated in Barry Block on 30th August, 2025.

Most recently, Nawaz Khan Laboratory was inaugurated on 17th February, 2026. A gift of our Old Boys, Nadeem Babar ('81), Arif Saeed, Irfan Aziz ('85) and Ali Ahsan ('94), the Physics Lab was named after their teacher, Mr Muhammad Nawaz Khan. Mr Nawaz Khan joined Aitchison College in 1971 and spent 45 years shaping the young minds of Aitchisonians as a mentor and physics teacher until his retirement in 2016. He was Head of the Physics Department for almost four decades, and served as patron and staff advisor for the Physics Section of the ‘Aitchison Scientific’ student publication. He was also the Housemaster of Jinnah House where his valuable advice and encouragement was much appreciated by his students. Throughout his time at Aitchison he supported student publications and extracurricular activities and inspired students to achieve their best both in life and in academics.

Honour Your Friend (Late)

Aitchison has always been a place not only of lasting values but a home where lifelong friendships are formed. The Honour Your Friend (HYF) initiative celebrates those bonds of brotherhood and friendship that remain among the most cherished parts of an Aitchison education and extend beyond life.
We now invite you to honour those friendships in a lasting way. The Honour Your Friend initiative enables you to commemorate a dear friend by contributing towards naming a classroom after him. This initiative has been supported by our most senior living Old Boy, Mr Syed Babar Ali, who chose to honour his dear friend, Ahmad Khan. Named after him for 20 years, the Ahmad Khan Classroom was inaugurated in Barry Block on 30th August, 2025. More recently, Arif Saeed (‘85) honoured the memory of his friend through the naming of the Raza Farooq Classroom on 3rd January, 2026.

Faculty Development Initiatives

The College aims to empower its faculty by investing in global learning opportunities and resources to shape world class leaders in academics. As a first measure, The Teaching & Learning Centre (TLC) has been established by the college under the guidance of Ms. Tina Hameed, an accomplished educator and teacher trainer with 30 years of experience.

Most recently, the Teaching & Learning Centre (TLC) had the honour of hosting the 7th TLA Conference, focusing on Teaching Gen-Z and Alpha: Opportunities and Challenges. The conference was conducted by the Teachers Learning Alliance (TLA), providing a platform for workshops, talks and networking with notable educators of Pakistan.
Similarly, TLC introduced “Professional Reading Circles”, aiming to foster reflective practice and peer-to-peer learning amongst teachers across all three schools. The TLC also hosted its first-ever Summer School for Teachers,“Nuts and Bolts: A Teacher’s Toolkit,” designed to equip educators with practical strategies, innovative classroom techniques, and collaborative learning experiences.

The Teaching Learning Centre (TLC) continues to promote collaboration, innovation, and excellence in teaching. We await your generosity in supporting its goals and advancing the growth of Aitchison’s faculty as the forefront of modern educational practice.
