We have had a very fortunate start to the year and boys have benefited from plenty of school. I trust that your sons have reinforced this feeling. Attendance has been around 90% for Day boys and 95% of boarders are in residence. This is important because evidence shows that online teaching produces less impressive results and overlooks the fact that the mental health of boys rests largely upon being together (safely) and playing sport and enjoying clubs. This is what we are doing. I wish to make this clear: very, very few boys have reported Covid infection and nearly all have reported this from home. We are in a pandemic and, as previously written, we must expect this from time to time. There has been no cross-infection on campus within classes and boarding houses are fine. We have employed rapid diagnostic testing and PCR is in place. Our SOPs are strong. We remain vigilant. The decision to implement a temporary 'Friday online' is merely to calibrate a little less time together for one or two weeks. Parents should feel confident in how the College is handling a very challenging situation.
