The selection of College sporting teams is determined by the Games Master and school coaches at weekly selection meetings. Parents are not permitted to approach sporting staff on such matters, in person or via social media, and certainly not threaten staff. Boys may approach their coach, housemaster or the Games Master for clarification or advice. This also helps boys take responsibility for their schooling. If at the end of that process there remain outstanding issues, parents may contact the relevant Head of School. Teams at Aitchison are chosen on the basis of attendance and demonstrated ability. This can change over time. More importantly, we engage all 3000 boys weekly in sport, of some sorts, over different practice sessions and levels of ability, both in and after school. External performance at clubs has no bearing on selection. We have many fine sportsmen and the standard is particularly high. Where there is an obvious and practicable need, we will create additional teams.
