The Aitchison Board of Governors has agreed to maintain tuition fees at their current level (July 2019) for the remainder of the academic year 2020-2021. This applies to all year levels and responds to the very difficult economy resulting from the pandemic. It is a temporary but essential decision to help our parent body through difficult times. Nonetheless, a 6,000 rupees per month increment in the boarding charge will be applied from January 2021. This is to meet running costs and inflationary pressures. The school does not earn revenue from boarding. In both day and boarding education, Aitchison's overall offering is exceptional in a market in which smaller schools charge similar fees and several substantially more than we do.The 'freezing' of our tuition fee cannot go on indefinitely, and for two months we applied an additional voluntary 20% reduction in fees. For example, teachers' salaries have not increased this year, despite remarkable academic results and staff working six days a week to deliver alternate day curriculum under very demanding conditions. Accordingly the Board is also making an early announcement to increase tuition fees by 15% from the commencement of our financial year in July 2021-2022 year. This is an effective increase over a two-year period that falls within previously announced intentions to limit tuition increases to 8% per annum. The flagging of this decision is to enable parents to plan well-ahead for this change.
