The May/June examinations are coming under intense scrutiny. If schools remain closed then the likelihood of having no examinations seems almost certain. We are meeting with Cambridge on a regular basis to discuss this and to clarify assessment models in the event of this happening. In the meantime, we are on course to complete vital Mocks by March 28th. Boys are coping very well and SOPs are the strongest possible utilising multiple venues and small examination sets. Attendance has been very pleasing.I wish to emphasise that school-based grades (including examinations) will become important in a 'basket' of approved school-based subject assessments in the case of no end of year examinations. The key point here is the Academic office is prepared for such a scenario. In the meantime, I would encourage boys and families to heed school advice on how to proceed, as opposed to ad hoc or personal decisions that may prove costly in the end. Aitchison has been clear in its advice to senior boys, especially H2. Please read my previous letter very carefully. Whatever we put in place is designed purely in the best academic interests of boys. Notwithstanding, we all appreciate the stresses and strains placed on families during this difficult time. Classes in Junior, Prep and Pre C1 are now back online and boys should be busy. Issues related to online classes should be directed to the relevant Head of School. As soon as we can other classes will join, as and when needed.
