Dear Parents of M-2 Boys,
In an ever changing economy, young people today face a number of challenges and it is more important than
ever that young people make their career choices wisely. It is very difficult to accurately forecast the job
requirements or trends of the future; which sector will be more in demand and what qualifications will be
required. However, it is agreed that the essential skills needed for the workplace are a good standard of literacy,
numeracy, basic computer skills and effective communication skills. Young people need to look for ways to
develop these skills through their studies and school based activities, sport, voluntary work, and work
experience.
While it is important for young people to study subjects that they enjoy, it is also advisable to consider the
career opportunities which lie ahead. We need to get them to think about: Subjects they enjoy, Subjects they
are good at or find challenging, Subjects that can link into career areas, how they like to learn (through
coursework, exams or a combination of both), the type of job they would like to do, talking to the counsellors,
Talking to the subject teachers.
To help you in making this decision about his subjects we have arranged a Subject Selection Day on November
30", 2023. Kindly attend the session, along with your son, from 3 - 4 pm (Kindly be seated by 2 50 pm) in
Shamim Khan Hall, where the Deputy Headmaster will make a presentation, our Guidance Counsellors, Head
of Years and Heads of Departments will be there to answer your queries. We have also put an Academic
Curriculum Booklet together and it will be uploaded on the portal by November 27%, 2023.
Senior School offers Matric (Fedral Board) and IGCSE (Cambridge). In IGCSE we offer two streams;
International (8 Subjects) and National (8 or 9 subjects). We recommend 9 subjects as IBCC takes best of
Eight subject results. The boys who are planning to do Sciences in Pakistan are required to take either Biology
or Computer Science in IGCSE.
If your son is good at a subject, he could boost his ability by choosing subjects which complement each other,
for example Physics and Mathematics. If you are unsure about subject selection, then either use his
examination results as a basis for selecting the subjects or discuss with your son his future career plans and
his interests.
The subject selection form attached has the codes mentioned in front of the subject name. You may look up
the subjects at the Cambridge website, if you want. Kindly submit the completed form to the Prep School
office by December 15", 2023.
