Mastery Series: Reading as a Cross-Curricular Skill
The Teaching & Learning Centre (TLC) conducted a Mastery Series workshop for English teachers across the Junior, Prep and Senior Schools, focusing on Reading as a Cross-Curricular Skill.
Led by Tina Hameed, the three-hour professional learning session explored reading as a process, the four reading sub-skills, active reading strategies, and approaches to assessing reading through the use of a miscue rubric.
The workshop emphasised the importance of developing effective reading skills that support learning across subject areas, equipping teachers with practical approaches to strengthen students’ reading comprehension and engagement with texts.
Through the Mastery Series, TLC continues to support teachers in deepening their professional practice and creating meaningful learning experiences for students.
