October 5th marks the celebration of Teachers’ Day, which was duly observed at Aitchison College. The day commenced with the Morning Assembly, where our Head Boy delivered an earnest speech expressing gratitude to all our teachers, followed by a very special musical performance by the Music Society. Alongside heartfelt messages shared throughout the day, teachers were also presented with thoughtful gifts, including pencils bearing each teacher’s initials and chocolates. However, the standout highlight was the special custom-designed folders, uniquely created for each teacher by the Art and Media Society.
Overall, Teachers’ Day at Aitchison College was more than just a celebration; it was a genuine expression of gratitude to all those who help shape our lives, inspire us to learn, and enable us to excel.
Ink Meets Heritage
The Aitchison College ‘Bazm-e-Adab” Society held the Inter-House Urdu Handwriting Competition on Wednesday, September 23rd, 2026. The event took place immediately after school in Rooms 136 and 138 and was the second competition conducted by the “Bazm-e-Adab” Society for the 2026–2027 academic year. Der Klang der Sprache: The German Society's Reading Competition
The German Society hosted the German Interpretive Reading Competition on 2 October 2026, giving students the opportunity to demonstrate their German language skills, pronunciation, expression confidence in reading aloud. The competition was divided into separate Junior and Senior categories. In the Junior category, Zayaan Ikhlas secured first position, followed by Ismaeel Sheikh in second position and Mubeen Akram in third. In the Senior category, Syed Hasnain Haider earned first position, Saraan bin Waqas achieved second position, and Ibrahim Khalid finished third.
Eloquence en francais: Open-House Interpretive Reading
The Aitchison College French Society conducted the Open House French Interpretive Reading Competition on Friday, 2 October 2026. Ms. Mehar Mansoor, the Staff Advisor of the French Society, judged the competition. The event served as a testament to the Society's enduring commitment to the promotion of the French language among the students of Aitchison College.
After a fiercely contested competition and tense deliberation, Shahzain Haider emerged victorious in the Juniors category, followed by Syed Ayaan Rizvi in second place and Essa bin Yusuf in third. In the Seniors category, first place was secured by Aayan Ahmed, while Abdul Muhaymin claimed second place and Shahraiz Chaudhry finished third.
Fellowship and Tradition at Kelly House Dinner 2026
On 29 September 2026, Kelly House hosted its Formal Dinner, bringing together current Kellyites and Old Aitchisonians for an evening of fellowship, conversation, and shared experiences. The occasion was graced by Dr Syed Muhammad Turab Hussain, Principal, and Ms Amina Kamran, Headmistress of the Senior School, along with distinguished guests Mr Haider Zaman, Mr Ahmed Virk, Mr Imran Masood, Mr Omer Tiwana, Mr Ali Sipra, Dr Ajmad Ghafoor, and Mr Asif Ali Khan.
The evening began with a gathering in the Common Room, where students met the guests and exchanged introductions before joining them for dinner. Around the dinner table, conversations unfolded naturally, with the boys engaging with the guests about their experiences at Aitchison, professional journeys, and life beyond the College. The occasion allowed students to listen, ask questions, and participate in conversations with confidence, while gaining first-hand insights from members of the wider Aitchisonian Community.
The Kelly House Formal Dinner reflected the spirit and traditions of the House, bringing together past and present members in an atmosphere of warmth and camaraderie. It was an evening of meaningful conversation, shared experiences, and lasting connections, leaving the boys with memories and insights that extended well beyond the dinner table.
Aitchison Delegation Meets Dr. Nergis Mavalvala, Dean of MIT's School of Science
The Aitchison College Science Society (ACSS) sent a student delegation to SundarSTEM School on Tuesday, 29th September 2026, for an interactive session with Dr. Nergis Mavalvala, Dean of the MIT School of Science. The delegation was accompanied by the Science Society Staff Advisor, Dr. Muhammad Kamran, and the Principal of Aitchison College, Dr. Syed Muhammad Turab Hussain.
The visit began with a lunch hosted at SundarSTEM School, where the delegation had the opportunity to meet and interact with Dr. Mavalvala in an informal setting. This provided the students with a valuable opportunity to engage with one of the world’s leading experimental physicists and learn about her experiences in science and academia.
The delegation then proceeded to the main session, where Dr. Mavalvala spoke about her journey into experimental physics and her pioneering work in the detection of gravitational waves. Drawing upon her experiences as a scientist and researcher, she discussed the challenges and discoveries that have shaped her career while offering students insight into the nature of experimental research and scientific innovation.
The session concluded with an engaging question-and-answer discussion, during which Aitchison students interacted directly with Dr. Mavalvala on topics ranging from pursuing research at a young age and developing the skills required to become an experimental physicist to the growing role of artificial intelligence in scientific research. Students also explored how schools can foster a stronger culture of original research and encourage young scientists to move beyond classroom learning.
The visit provided the delegation with a rare opportunity to learn directly from a distinguished scientist at the forefront of modern physics. It reflected the Aitchison College Science Society’s continued commitment to exposing students to leading figures in STEM, encouraging scientific curiosity, and creating opportunities for meaningful engagement with research and innovation.
Making a Splash: JS Swimming Gala and Swimming Meet 2026
The JS Swimming Gala 2026 was successfully held on Friday, 25th September 2026, at the JS Swimming Pool with great excitement and enthusiasm. Mr. Sheikh Intikhab graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. He was the captain of the Aitchison College Swimming team from 1982 to 1984 and was awarded the prestigious full-college blazer for excellence in swimming.
The swimming arena came alive with colours, energy, and enthusiastic cheers as young swimmers from different Houses prepared to showcase their skills in a series of exciting races. Competing in freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly, the participants demonstrated confidence, skill, and true sportsmanship. Every race was met with warm applause, adding to the excitement of the occasion. The Swimming Gala concluded with the presentation of medals and trophies, celebrating the outstanding performances of the winners.
The excitement continued with the Swimming Meet, where the emphasis shifted from competition to participation and enjoyment. Learners across different age groups enjoyed freestyle swimming in a relaxed and encouraging environment, building confidence while cheering their friends and celebrating the joy of being in the water.
Together, the Swimming Gala and Swimming Meet created a memorable celebration of talent, teamwork, and sportsmanship, reminding everyone that sport is not only about winning but also about participation, learning, and enjoying the experience.
University of Sheffield Comes to Aitchison
Professor Siobhan Lambert-Hurley from the University of Sheffield visited Aitchison College on September 24th, 2026. She led an extremely engaging and interactive session with the H2 students. While exploring various options available at the University of Sheffield, she also highlighted the value gained by students from a UK education. Dr Lambert's son Finn also accompanied her and graciously shared his experiences and insights of studying at the University of Nottingham. Their session was followed by an engaging exchange of questions and answers.
Preparing for Success: SAT Guidance Sessions at Aitchison
Aitchison College hosted Mr Arif Piracha from Smart Prep to speak to our A1 students about the importance of taking the SAT. Mr Piracha shared valuable insights into how best to prepare for the SAT. We organised two sessions on 16th and 23rd September 2026 to reach out to the maximum number of students. Both sessions were highly interactive and informative. Student feedback was very positive. We look forward to hosting similar sessions in the future
Promoting Persian Ties: Iran Cultural Center's Director General Visits Prep School
On September 18, 2026, the Director General of the Iranian Cultural Center, Lahore, Dr. Asghar Masoudi, with his delegation, arrived at Aitchison College Prep School, Lahore, at 8:20 a.m. Upon arrival at the Prep School, he was warmly received by two students who presented him with a bouquet. He was then received by the Worthy Principal of Aitchison College, Dr. S. M. Turab Hussain; the Headmaster, Raja Ashfaq Ahmad; and the Deputy Headmaster and senior faculty members of the Prep School.
During his visit, the Director General first visited the Persian classroom and then attended a session of the Persian Club & Society at the Prep School Library, where he interacted with students and witnessed their presentations. Two students first recited a Persian poem by Allama Muhammad Iqbal, demonstrating their confidence and command of the language, after which the students presented a short skit in Persian.
During his speech, the Director General greatly appreciated the students' performances and praised them for their commendable proficiency in Persian. After the Persian Club session, he met with the Worthy Principal of Aitchison College and the Headmaster of the Prep School in the Headmaster's office to discuss academic matters, including Persian language education, student and cultural exchange, and areas of mutual academic interest. The visit provided a valuable opportunity to promote cultural and academic ties between the Iranian Cultural Center and Aitchison College. The Director General thanked the school administration, teachers, and students for their warm welcome and hospitality.
A Warm Welcome: Aitchison Boarding Community Dinner 2026
The Aitchison College Boarding Community gathered for its annual Welcome Dinner on September 11, 2026, at Shamim Khan Hall, marking the start of the 2026–27 Academic Session.
The evening brought together boarders from the Junior, Prep, and Senior Schools, along with members of the College leadership, House staff, and the wider residential community.
The gathering was honoured by the presence of the Principal of Aitchison College, Dr. S. M. Turab Hussain; the Bursar, Mr. Khalid Mohammed Noon; the Heads of the three Schools, Ms. Amina Kamran, Senior School, Mr. Raja Ashfaq Ahmad, Prep School, and Mrs. Fatima Mubeen, Junior School, along with Housemasters/Housemistresses and their respective Assistants.
The evening began with ‘Qira’at' and translation, followed by brief speeches from student representatives of Junior, Prep, and Senior Schools. The boys shared their boarding experiences and reflected on the friendships, support, and opportunities that are integral to the residential experience at Aitchison. The Principal then addressed the gathering, highlighting Aitchison’s legacy and the values of discipline, integrity, and respect. He encouraged the boys to make the most of the academic, sporting, and co-curricular opportunities available to them and to uphold the values expected of an Aitchisonian.
A musical performance added a celebratory note to the evening, followed by a delicious dinner and an opportunity for students and staff from across the boarding houses to interact in a relaxed setting. The Welcome Dinner provided a warm start to the New Term, strengthening connections across the boarding community and fostering a shared sense of belonging, fellowship, and House spirit.
Honouring Excellence, Celebrating Achievements: Annual Prize Giving Ceremony 2026
Aitchison College’s Prep and Senior Schools celebrated their students' remarkable achievements at the Annual Academic and Co-Curricular Prize Giving Ceremony 2026, held on Saturday, 19 September, at Shamim Khan Hall.
The event commenced with welcoming remarks from the Principal, Dr. S.M. Turab Hussain Sb, who introduced the distinguished Chief Guest, Mr. Salman Akhtar, a proud alumnus of Aitchison College. The audience included prize winners and their proud parents, whose presence added warmth and prestige to the celebration.
The ceremony began with awards for the Prep School, followed by honours for the Senior School. The Headmistress Senior School, Ms. Amina Kamran, and the Headmaster Prep School, Mr. Raja Ashfaq Ahmad, joined the Chief Guest and the Principal on stage for their respective award presentations. Students were recognised for their exceptional performance in the Annual Examinations, IGCSE, and AS Level Examinations 2026, as well as outstanding achievements in Inter-House and Open-House Co-Curricular Competitions for 2025–26.
In his address, Chief Guest Mr. Salman Akhtar praised the boys for their dedication across diverse academic and co-curricular endeavours. He urged students to uphold the values of discipline and perseverance, emphasising that sustained effort and character remain the foundation of lasting success.
The ceremony concluded on an inspiring note, honouring the hard work of Aitchisonians, the dedication of the faculty, and the steadfast support of families. The event reaffirmed Aitchison College’s enduring legacy of nurturing well-rounded young men grounded in academic integrity, leadership, and holistic excellence.
