In 1886 twelve boys of Punjab chiefs (seven Sikh and five Muslim) from Ambala Wards School were moved to Lahore to establish Punjab Chiefs College, with a multi-faith teaching staff (three Muslims, four Hindus and a Christian Principal); the initial classes were held at Queen Mary College in Lahore until the current campus was built.
