A Sporting Masterplan, with input from prominent old boys and ex Olympians, was finalised and about to be considered by the Core Committee of the Board of Governors; if adopted, cricket, tennis, hockey, football, squash, athletics, gymnastics and other sports would get state of the art facilities; the launch of the sports academies was strategic and in anticipation of it.
