Aitchson has managed the pandemic superbly and doubtless its campus and generous facilities have helped. Parents should feel confident in our management of the virus and should be well-aware of our practices over the past year. If not, please refer to numerous previous letters on the subject. Boys will be thoroughly reacquainted with our rules on returning to school. Please make sure that your son has a new mask and an authorised one. Masks must not have breathing valves. While no one can guarantee outcomes in a pandemic, it is pointless the school applying strict protocols if day boys then return outside and engage in 'risky' events or occasions or do not wear masks in public spaces. I add to this school car parks and driving home in the company of drivers. Take full precautions. No transmission occurred in boarding over the past year. Our weak point, if we have one, lies in the day population 'coming and going.' Please help us to do the utmost to protect everyone in a day and boarding school by following the same protocols outside school. I appreciate this is a challenging task and we know this from first-hand experience. Make sure that we are not beaten by things we can control. Your Head of School is your first point of contact. Our staff is vaccinated.
