Community service/ Internships Important Guidelines
To ensure meaningful engagement and uphold the standards of the College, the following regulations govern student participation in internships and community service programmes:
1. Official Recognition and Application Process
- Only internships or community service placements processed through the College’s official application form will be recognised.
- Any internship or service arranged independently by students without prior notification to the College will be considered private and non-creditable.
2. Eligibility Criteria
- Students with any active disciplinary record will be ineligible for internships or community service programmes.
- Students must maintain a minimum attendance rate of 80% to qualify for participation.
- Only one internship or community service activity is permitted per student during the summer break.
3. Expectations During Placement
- Students are expected to exhibit the highest standards of discipline, commitment, and professional behaviour throughout their placement.
- The internship or community service must be completed within the timeframe set by the host organisation.
- Lack of interest, poor attitude, or misconduct will lead to immediate termination of placement. Such students will be blacklisted and barred from future opportunities offered by the College.
4. Boarding House Students
- Special arrangements will be made to offer internships within the home cities of boarding house students. They are equally encouraged to apply through the standard process.
5. Monitoring and Evaluation
- All internships and community service activities will be closely monitored by the College.
- On-site visits, as well as regular communication with the host organisation, will be conducted to assess:
- Student attendance and punctuality
- Adherence to conduct expectations
- Quality and consistency of work
- The host organisation will be requested to submit a detailed report on the student’s performance.
6. Completion Requirements
- Upon completing the internship/community service, each student is required to submit a one-page reflective report outlining the skills gained, challenges faced, and key learnings from the experience.
Note: Failure to adhere to any of the above guidelines may result in disciplinary action and loss of future participation privileges.
