ACOBA BIG BATCH CRICKET LEAGUE 2018
ACOBA also organized the biggest old boys Big Batch Cricket League to date in March 2018 with Thirteen Batches
participating including the current Aitchison squad. The cricketing extravaganza at the ACOBA Cricket Ground and
Main Cricket Ground (MCG) was a spectacular event with over 170 old boys participating. ACOBA Executive and Sports
Committee are indebted to Mr. Michael Thomson (Principal), Mr. Khalid Noon (Bursar) and Mr. Shahid Mahmood
(Director Sports) for their tremendous support in making the tournament a success. Excellent cricketing was seen in
both Senior (pre 2000) and Junior (post 2000) batches.
The Final of the Seniors was played between Batch of 1989 (AC Gold 89) and Batch of 1994-96 (Lions) at the MCG. Usman Javed
Shafi batted magnificently leading the Lions to a well-deserved but toughly contested victory in the MCG. He was also adjudged
Batsman of the Tournament (Seniors), an honour he shared with Nisar Zaman Khan (AC Gold 89). Noman Nadir (AC Gold 89) was the
highest wicket-taker and took home the honours of Best Bowler of the Tournament (Seniors).
The Final of the Juniors was played between Batch of 2001 (Warriors) led by Sufi Muhammad Farrukh Amin and current Aitchison
College team. Aitchison College won the dual and came out victorious having made their indelible mark on the tournament. Head
Coach Mr. Riaz and Director Cricket Mr. Jon Wright can rightly be proud of their boys! Aitchison College also took home the awards
for Batsman and Bowler of the Tournament (Juniors). ACOBA and Aitchison College were pleased to welcome prominent old boy Mr.
Mueen Afzal (former Federal Secretary Finance & Economics Affairs & Hilal-i-Imtiaz recipient) as the Chief Guest along with Dr.
Andrew Treharne (Vice Principal Academics), Mr. Shahjehan Ayub (President ACOBA), Mr. Usman Hag (Vice-President ACOBA),
Mr. Javed Zaman Khan (Director Sports ACOBA), Mr. Omer Qureshi (Gen. Sec. ACOBA) and ACOBA Executive Committee
Members also graced the finals. Special thanks to Taimur Saleem Malik for being part of the ACOBA Big Batch Organizing
Committee. Enjoy the beautifully captured moments, courtesy of none other than our dear Bhatti Sb. Well done!
