ALUMNUS IN FOCUS
There was a Full College Blazer for boys who excelled in sports but no recognition for those who
did well in studies or extra-curricular activities. So I wrote a very detailed letter to Mr. Abdul Rahman
Quraishi saying that it was most unjust and that those who did well in studies or extra-curricular
activities needed to be similarly recognized. So, I suggested a Full College Blazer for them as well.
I am happy that the letter was accepted and the blazer was instituted. I and my friend Salman Akhtar
were the first recipients of that blazer in 1983 and then we were again awarded that blazer when we
got three A’s in our A Level in 1984. So that is how the Academic Blazer started.
