TRAGIC LOSS OF SHAHZADA DAWOOD
AND HIS SON SULEMAN
PASSING OF AZHAR WALI MOHAMMAD
We are saddened to announce the passing of Old Aitchisonian
Azhar Wali Mohammad, who passed away on Thursday, 17th August,
2023. He left Aitchison in1966. He was Athletics Captain for the year
1965-6, and completed his boarding in Kelly House under Mr.T.L.G
Mullan. After school, he became the Managing director of Aerotron
(private) LTD. An inspiring soul who possessed a positive approach
towards every aspect in his life, Azhar Wali Mohammed was a very
well read person with an intuitive knowledge about any subject
relating to sports, politics, travelling and matters relating to life itself.
He was a determined man with integrity, passion and kindness for
everyone he knew. He was loved by many and will be missed by all
who knew him. Our condolences go forth to his family. May his soul
rest in peace.
Aitchison College mourns the loss of Shahzada Dawood (Hali
House AC'92) and his son Suleman, along with three others, who
perished in the tragic loss of the Titanic submersible. After
graduating from Aitchison, Shahzada joined the family business on
the board of Dawood Lawrencepur, and as a trustee the board of
The Dawood Foundation, the family philanthropy. He studied in
London to receive an LLBand earned a M.Sc. in Global Textile
Marketing in Philadelphia. Shahzada became the CEO of Dawood
Hercules Chemicals and served on several boards of business
organisations, like: Engro Corporation, Sui Northern, and Hubco.
He was also on the board of philanthropic organisations, such as:
Shaukat Khanum Hospital, National Management Foundation, and
Engro Foundation. Last, Shahzada served as the Vice-Chair of
Engro Corporation. Internationally, he was a trustee on the board of
the SETI Institute, a member of the Founders Circle of the British
Asian Trust, and involved with the Prince's Trust International.
Shahzada was selected as a Young Global Leader of the World
Economic Forum and actively promoted Pakistan's economy at the
Forum. Our heartfelt condolences go out to all families affected.
May their souls rest in peace.
