The Principal was joined by old boys Aamir Shirazi and Iftikhar Shirazi, Syed Babar Ali and several board members, guests and
senior staff to celebrate the groundbreaking ceremony of this new senior boarding house to be situated between Godley and
Leslie Jones houses. In one of the biggest post Independence gestures, Mr Thomson paid tribute to the Shirazi family along
with Syed Babar Ali and ArifSaeed, applauding the Shirazi family's support, vision and generosity. The Shirazi family
expressed how eager they were to help the College expand boarding for remote boys in Pakistan, so they can benefit from an
Aitchison education.
THE SHIRAZI FAMILY DONATE A NEW SENIOR BOARDING HOUSE
No one wants to resort to online school when such an exciting 'physical' program exists at Aitchison. However, staff and
students have responded magnificently to the pandemic and not only enjoyed classes and kept pace with curriculum, but
undertaken online examinations as well. Seniors from C1 to H1 have utilised Exam.Net put to wide use in the United
Kingdom. Teachers and prep boys have shown how adept the young generation is with technology.
The College made the necessary arrangements by training the teaching faculty, providing them with online resources on
remote teaching, assessment alternatives, and out-of-the-box course delivery approaches. While the transition to distance
learning was unexpected and unsettling to many students, teachers employed discussion tools to enable interactions with
and among students using the Google Classroom and Google Meet. Junior School's online classes were not limited to
academics but also inculcated extra-curricular activities using videos, PPTs, podcasts, storyboards, jam board, and online
quizzes. We are thankful to both teachers and College IT department who assisted the process of home learning during these
unprecedented times.
