ACOBA UPDATE
AITCHISON COLLEGE Vs. ACOBA
ANNUAL SPORTS FIXTURES - 2018
Hockey
The Annual Sports Fixtures were a roaring success. Thanks to the wonderful support of Mr. Michael
Thomson (Principal), Mr. Shahjehan Ayub (President ACOBA), Mr. Usman Haq (Vice-President ACOBA),
Mr. Javed Zaman Khan (Director Sports ACOBA) and Aitchison’s Sports Department, this year the
fixtures included the regular match-ups in Cricket, Hockey, Football, as well as Tennis, Basketball and
Squash. It was a sporting bonanza in the month of February with tremendous participation by the Old
Boys and Aitchison students and staff.
The fixtures started off with
Hockey where Aitchison easily
won 6 – 1. The young guns of
Aitchison displayed excellent
combination of stick work and
speed, totally dominating the
proceedings.
Squash
The tide completely changed in
Squash where the experienced
ACOBA team won 5 – 0 giving
no chance to Aitchison. Ali
Hassan Habib (former Aitchison
Squash Captain) from the batch
of 1978 was one of the stal-
warts of the ACOBA team.
Football
Football was a highly competitive
fight with Aitchison coming out
on top 1 – 0. A great number of
Old Boys and students / staff
enjoyed the thriller. ACOBA’s
very own Mr. Omer Qureshi gave
a wonderful performance as the
goal-keeper to keep ACOBA in
the fight till the end of the match.
