AITCHISON COLLEGE VS. ACOBA ENGLISH DEBATE - 2018
Under the patronage of Ms. Amina Kamran (Headmistress Senior School), a very exciting event was held
at the Senior School: The first Aitchison vs. ACOBA Debating Competition. The topic on the occasion
was “Traditions are no longer relevant” with Aitchison speaking for the motion and ACOBA against the
motion. The audience thoroughly enjoyed the proceedings in the presence of Mr. Michael Thomson
(Principal), Mr. Khalid Noon (Bursar), Mrs. Amina Kamran (Headmistress Senior School) and Mr. Shahje-
han Ayub (President ACOBA). It was an engaging and well-argued debate. Ultimately, Aitchison won 2 –
1 setting the tone for more energetic debates in the future.
Present Aitchisonians Muhammad Usman Omer, Shabriz Mushtaq, Muhammad Saljuk Gondal and
Hassan Kamal Watto were members of the winning College team. Muhammad Saljuk Gondal (Deputy
Head Boy) was simply brilliant as were SyedAsimAliShah (former Head Boy) and Walid Iqbal (former
Aitchison Debating Champion) both from the batch of 1984. Mr. Rehman Hamid (batch of 1994) and
Khawaja Abdullah Khalid (batch of 1995) were also part of the ACOBA team.
ACOBA GOLF TOURNAMENT - 2018
ACOBA in collaboration with Old Boys and Lahore Gymkhana Club organised a wonderful one-day golf
tournament. Over 60 Old Boys participated in what is expected to become a permanent feature on the
ACOBA calendar. The prize distribution was graced by Mr. Michael Thomson (Principal), Mr. Andrew
Treharne Mr. Shahjehan Ayub (President ACOBA), Mr. Omer Qureshi (Gen. l Sec. ACOBA) and ACOBA
CEC Members in what tirend out to be a truly momentous occasion.
