BALLIOL COLLEGE OXFORD PARTNERS
AITCHISON COLLEGE
Three dimensional art works were also displayed. Among these was
the unique lamp designed by Mr. Raza Zahid, the contemporary jew-
ellery designed by Mr Athar ur Rehman from ‘Ruby Jewellers’, the
sculpture by Mr. Zafar Hameed Piracha, the furniture display from
‘Kalamkaar’ and the hand knotted carpet sent by Mr. Asif Nazir
heading the famous company ‘Miaco Carpets’.
The exhibition duly paid tribute to all the esteemed and accom-
plished artists who sent in their tremendous art pieces. We are
thankful to all the artists who helped us make this exhibition a huge
success and all those who came to see and appreciate the art that
showcased the epitome of hard work, dedication and powerful mes-
sage that art embodies.
Balliol College Oxford has agreed
to partner Aitchison College for a
program that would invite Oxford
students to Aitchison to help in
teaching and discussion forums
covering subjects such as English,
Mathematics,
Science,
History,
Geography, Economics and Philoso-
phy. Enabling our senior A Level
boys to interact with some of the
brightest
young
international
minds can only benefit us. Of
course, Balliol students will benefit
from seeing Aitchison, Lahore, and
meeting key staff of universities
here.
Bringing the world to Aitchison has
been one of the key platforms in the
current strategic plan of College
Principal Michael Thomson. Now
this is happening. Balliol students
will stay for two weeks to a month
on a rotational basis. This is global
education at its best. We expect our
first batch mostly between Febru-
ary and April each year.
Acclaimed architects submitted their architectural plans. Among them were the works of the honour-
able Mr. Kamil Khan Mumtaz, Faheem Ahsan Jamil, Adil Khalil, Rai Karam Elahi, and Hammad Riaz to
name a few. Also on display was the work of several brilliant photographers including UsmanKhan,
Osama Bangash and Fahim Ahmed among many others.
There were avant-garde pieces of digital art submitted by Imran Salman Zia, Umair Abbasi, Azeem Yar
Tiwana and Asim Noon. A number of recent graduates studying abroad at art universities also sent their
work in form of high resolution images. These were sent by Haider Ali Khan Khajjak, Mustafa Mohsin,
Mustafa Yazdani and Khawaja Anza Shahzad. Famous musicians including Ali Aziz Sethi, Farhad
Humaun and Omar Mukhtar were also honoured at the exhibition.
