MAKING A GIFT The Old Building Fund Our donation drive for the Old Building has so far raised 36 million rupees and we thank all those who came to the rescue. Donations are still welcome and needed. The anticipated total cost of the project is now estimated to be 80 million rupees. This is a masterful, ambitious and time consuming project to return the Old Building to its former glory. The end result will ensure that it stands strong and tall for another century. Old Boy architect Raees Faheem has been overseeing the entire project and the Board subcommittee has been receiving regular updates. We still require 40 million rupees to finish everything and maintain a small working fund for any future restoration needs. This building is Aitchison. Much work has been completed in the restoration of the Old Building. All the rooves have been replaced and the balconies upstairs are close to complete. Internal rooms off the Main Hall are now receiving new but original-styled floor tiles. In the Main Hall the plaster of paris has been repaired or expertly replaced. Honourboards are being redone in black and gold. The Hall of Honour has been restored with its two anterooms looking superb. The building's external walls and features have been 80% cleaned. Upstairs there is still wall work to do, but walking through the Old Building is now a magnificent and uplifting experience.
