PASSING OF SYED NADIR HUSSAIN
(AITCHISON COLLEGE ALUMNUS, 1936-1944)
With great sadness, we announce the passing away of Major (Ret) Syed Nadir Hussain s/o Syed
Ashiq Hussain of Shergarh District Okara, on Wednesday 5th February 2025, after a brief
illness. Born on 30th April 1930 he was 95 years old when he passed away. He was a prominent
old boy of Aitchison College, from 1936 to 1944. A keen sportsman, he made his mark in
swimming, riding, hockey cricket and athletics. After matric he did his intermediate from
Government College Lahore. Later he joined the Pakistan Military Academy, was admitted to
3RD PMA as a regular cadet on 30th June 1950. He did well and became Senior Under Officer
of Khalid Company. He was commissioned on 10th February 1951 to join 7/ First Punjab
Regiment which was later renamed as 18 Punjab Regiment. He fought in the 1965 war,
distinguishing himself in the Rann of Kutch, Sindh and was part of Operation Desert Hawk. He
retired from military service on 2Ƥd May 1966. Post retirement he was Chief Security Officer of
Pakistan Institute of Nuclear Science and Technology (PINSTECH) Islamabad. Also served as
Honorary Magistrate and was Printer and Publisher of English Newspaper “The Daily Muslim.”
As a retirement hobby he loved to breed birds, dogs and horses. He had a polite and friendly
nature, which earned him the respect of all who knew him.
His legacy as a soldier, sportsman and gentleman will be fondly remembered. May his soul rest
in peace.
REMEMBERING OMER AAMIR (AC’ 2010)
We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Omer Aamir on 5th Sep 2024, a
distinguished alumnus of Aitchison College (AC’ 2010, Centenary House). Omer was the
recipient of multiple academic and co-curricular awards at Aitchison, excelling in Cricket,
Cross Country, Hockey, Football, and representing the school at the AlHuda International Quiz
Competition, reflecting his early dedication and versatility. After graduating from Aitchison,
Omer earned his BA-LL.B (Hons) from LUMS in 2017 and was pursuing an LL.M. at Georgetown
Law. He held research positions at the Centre for Aerospace and Security Studies (CASS) and
the United States Institute of Peace (USIP), making valuable contributions at the intersection of
law, policy, and technology.
Omer will be remembered not only for his academic brilliance but also for his humility, grace,
and enduring Aitchisonian spirit. Our heartfelt condolences go out to his family, friends, and all
who had the privilege of knowing him. Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji'un
IN LOVING MEMORY OF NAYLE UMAIR (AC’ 2026)
We are deeply saddened to share the passing of a young Aitchisonian, Nayle Umair (AC’ 2026),
who left us on Saturday, 1st February 2025, after courageously battling cancer for two years. A
proud member of Jinnah House, Nayle was known for his resilience, kindness, and warm spirit.
Throughout his time at Aitchison, Nayle excelled both academically and personally. He was
awarded two Gold and one Bronze certificate for reading, along with merit certificates and
Silver and Bronze awards in 2017. In 2020, he also secured 3rd position in Urdu Reading
(section-wise). Nayle was deeply cherished by his peers and remembered for his friendly,
compassionate nature. His entire C2 class gathered to bid him farewell, an expression of the
love and respect he inspired in those around him.
Our heartfelt condolences go out to Nayle’s family during this time of profound loss. May Allah
grant him the highest place in Jannah and bring comfort to all who mourn his passing.
