PASSING OF MR. SIMONGLASSON,
PRINCIPAL OF KARACHI GRAMMAR SCHOOL
Aitchison College pays tribute to the life of Mr. SimonGlasson, Principal of Karachi Grammar School, who passed
away in London, yesterday. He was greatly admired and recognized for the contribution he made to both KGS and
education in Pakistan. We extend to his family and colleagues our most heartfelt condolences.
PASSING OF AMBASSADOR ® NAWABZADA MEHBOOB ALI KHAN
Old Aitchisonian and Ambassador (Retd.) Nawabzada Mehboob Ali Khan passed away in Dubai on Tuesday, 29th
November 2023. He was the son of the late Nawabzada and Begum Khurshid Ali Khan. He was a House Prefect of
Jubilee House and was known amongst his friends as the best organizer for arranging functions. After graduating
from Aitchison in 1960, he received his Law degree from the Government College, Lahore. He joined the Pakistan
Foreign Service in 1974 and served as Pakistan's representative in various missions abroad, including
ambassadorial assignments in Europe. May the pleasant soul rest in peace.
PASSING OF SYED AZHAR SHAH
We are saddened to announce the passing of Old Aitchisonian Syed Azhar Shah. He passed away on Tuesday, 3'4
January 2023.The 81-year-old breathed his last peacefully after a short illness in Lahore. After graduating from the
Senior Cambridge class of 1960, he went to University Edinburgh for Aeronautical Engineering. He cultivated
lifelong friendships across the globe and was known as a humble and kind hearted person among his friends and
family.Our condolences & prayers go to his family. May his soul rest in eternal peace.
THE PASSING OF LATE AZIZ UR RAHMAN
The Old Aitchisonian Aziz ur Rahman passed away on Thursday, 24th November 2022. He graduated from
Aitchison in 1954 and was awarded Churchill Medal for being the best candidate in HSC of the year 1954. Aziz was
a good student, pains-taking and earnest, and throughout his stay with us, he manifested the right attitude. He was
atennis player of good standard and showed fine qualities of sportsmanship. Photography was one of his joys. Our
condolences go forth to his family. May his soul rest in peace
THE PASSING OF SARDAR SYED MUHAMMAD ALI SHAH
With profound grief and sorrow we announce the passing away of veteran Aitchisonian, Sardar Syed Muhammad
Ali Shah of Rajoya Saadat, District Chiniot. He passed away on Tuesday, the 28th of February 2023 after a protracted
illness. Muhammad Ali Shah was born in a family with a rich spiritual lineage and legacy, as well as a political
background. After graduating from Aitchison in 1960, he went back to his ancestral village and apart from looking
after his ancestral estate, ventured into politics and public life. He was elected as member of the National Assembly
in 1977 and 1985 and also remained Federal Minister for Railways and Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee.
He was the head of the Rajoya Saadat clan and also the spiritual successor to the shrine of Shah Daulat Bukhari. We
extend our heartfelt condolences to his family.
PASSING OF SARDAR JAFFAR KHAN LEGHARI
It is with great sorrow and grief that we announce the passing away of Sardar Jaffar Khan Leghari, a veteran old
Aitchisonian and a sitting member of the National Assembly. He passed away on Friday, 318t December, 2022 in the
presence of his loved ones. Sardar Jaffar Khan was born on the 23'¢ of June, 1942. He was a third generation
Aitchisonian and studied at the College from 1950 to 1957. After Aitchison, he did his diploma/undergraduate
degree from the University of Agriculture, Faisalabad. He also started assisting his father in his political activities
and ventured into politics in the 1970s in what was to end up as a prolific political career as District Chairman
Rajanpur, Member Punjab Assembly (1985, 1988 and 1993) and later on Member National Assembly
(1997,2002,2008,2013 and 2018). Known as a people's man, a gentleman of the old school, he was also known for
his love of art and culture, and the restoration of heritage sites. We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family
and tribesmen.
