OBITUARIES
PASSING OF JAMIL (JIMMY) AHMAD
It is with great sadness that we note the passing of Jamil Ahmad ('78). Jamil was
well-known to Aitchison boys in his regular ACOBA fixtures. He was Pakistan's
No.1 player in tennis from 1976 to 1982, while remarkably still a student at
Aitchison. He was awarded a full College blazer in 1976, and awarded tennis
colours for six years from as early as Prep school.
Jamil represented Pakistan at Wimbledon ('76 & '77) as well as playing in the Davis
Cup. During his era, he won more than twenty National Championships (Men
Singles, Junior Singles, Mens Doubles & Mixed Doubles). He was also the silver
medallist at the ASIAN Games 1978.The Aitchison community mourns the loss of a
much loved personality.
PASSING OF MR.SAJJAD RAFI
We are saddened to share the passing of an Old Aitchisonian Mr. Sajjad Rafi who
passed away on Tuesday, 5th July 2022. Mr. Sajjad Rafi attended Aitchison
College from 1951 to 1959. After Aitchison, he went to Wadham College,
University of Oxford for Law, following which he did his bar-at-law from Middle
Temple. He was the recipient of Malik Chiragh Khan Debating Cup for
consecutive three years. He was known as an exuberant and humorous individual
among his friends.
On behalf of the entire Aitchison family, we extend our heartfelt condolences to
the family.
PASSING OF
PRINCE MIANGUL ADNAN AURANGZEB
Old Aitchisonian and former MNA Prince Miangul Adnan Aurangzeb passed
away on Monday May 30, 2022from a road accident. He was born in 1961 and was
the last (titular) Prince of the Swat Valley and an Old Boy, having attended our
College from 1970-1974. He studied in the United States at Northeastern
University in Boston, Massachusetts, and graduated with an engineering degree
in electronics. He was elected to the National Assembly from Swat in the 1997.
Mr. Aurangzeb was renowned for his good manners, humble character and
down-to-earth personality. Aitchison extends heartfelt condolences to his family.
Mr. Aurangzeb was the grandson of former President of Pakistan, Field Marshal
Mohammad Ayub Khan. May his soul rest in peace.
PASSING OF MAJOR (R) ARSHAD ALI KHAN
Old boy and Major (R) Arshad Ali Khan passed away on Friday, 26th August, 2022.
Late Arshad Ali Khan attended Aitchison College from 1959-1969. He was the house
prefect for Kelly House and one of the most prominent students. He was a proud
recipient of the Aitchison Challenge Cup, Athletics Colours, Farid Kot Challenge
Cup, Dasaundha Challenge Cup, Chamba Challenge Cup and Anwar Saeed Sports
Challenge Cup in 1969. After graduating from Aitchison, he got selected in the PMA
45th long course and took commission in the Pakistan Armed Forces in 1971 in the
Armored Corps 22, Cavalry. He served in Punjnad Aviation, Evacuee Trust under
NAB for the past few years. Our heartfelt condolences go forth to the family of the
beloved departed soul. May Allah grant him among the highest place in Jannah.
