Policy on Disruptive Social Behaviours, Aitchison College
5
1.1 Scope of Policy
This policy applies to all students affiliated with Aitchison College, from acceptance of admission to
graduation, and governs behaviour occurring in all aspects of school life—day and boarding. The college
recognizes that for many students, the campus is both a school and home and places particular importance on
fostering an environment of mutual respect, safety, and trust within the student community. Expectations of
conduct extend to residential life.
The policy applies to:
● Conduct on campus, including academic, residential, sporting, and any other areas within college
premises.
● Conduct on school-owned or rented property like buses or vans.
● Behaviour during school-sponsored events, trips, sports and off-site activities like community service,
internships, etc.
● Online behaviour that affects the wellbeing of others in the school community.
● Any situation where a student is representing the College formally or informally.
Character develops and is manifested in all aspects of student life, inside and outside the school. Students are
ambassadors of Aitchison College at all times, and are expected to uphold the honour, dignity, and values of the
institution in all their conduct. Therefore, Aitchison College reserves the right to investigate and/or respond to
off-campus or out-of-school behaviour when such conduct:
● Contravenes the values or code of conduct of the college.
● Causes harm to any member of the college community or the wider public.
● Brings the college into disrepute or undermines public trust in its standards.
When determining whether disciplinary procedures apply, the severity of the incident, its impact on others, and
the degree to which it reflects the character and expectations of an Aitchisonian will be assessed. The
disciplinary action may even result in expulsion from the college.
