The Hour
Hussain Aslam Bhinder
M2F5
There used to be something more than it all
In the reflections of the tangled waterfalls
But if I dive deeper, my life might end at a full stop
Could I be different, perhaps a Neanderthal?
What if they’re one, and I’m an alien race
Bearing a different shade of red, coursing through my veins?
I let it show and scare the love away
Leaving them confused, traumatized, trapped in its glow
They say that He makes no mistakes, but I’m afraid,
For here in me, is a flawed show
When I reach for a morsel, begging with my empty hand
I gaze upon their new utopia, their promised land
I think it’ll go according to the plan
They’ll dwell in their paradise while I’m buried in the sand
If two plus two is four, and everyone has someone, then how can the math be right?
While they bask in jubilance, God designed me as the lonely archetype
If every sorrow has been etched in time, most of the hour is mine.
