Nature
Ayaan Ahmad
M2F1
Nature murmurs faint, elusive, slight
A flicker fainting in waning light.
It trembles where the shadows creep,
And blinds the heart, while truths retreat.
The stars arise, yet wane away,
We stretch for flames that cannot stay—
The gilded gold we grasp dissolves,
And dreams, they splinter, cold, absolved.
Through veils of want, we chase the blaze,
Yet find within but feeble haze.
For in that fire, deceit is sown,
While hope lies strangled, truth unknown.
The path once straight now serpentine,
Where roots entwine and hearts malign.
Grass grows barbed beneath the tread,
Yet we seek where light has fled.
We race forth with heedless speed,
Toward the pyre that bids us to bleed.
We grasp, we fall, we strive in vain,
For every spark brings naught but pain.
Wherefore this haste?
We do not see.
We seek the glow, yet cease to be.
