Fall from Grace
Syed Ayaan Rizvi
M2F1
For a thousand years the king had ruled,
The land he so long had abused,
His subjects, slaves to his iron hand,
Served no matter what was the command,
None could ever challenge his might,
Yet one stood up and dared to fight,
A lowly peasent, his family’s remnant,
His goal apparent, his honesty transparent,
He challenged his majesty to a duel,
The potentate scoffed, oh what a fool,
In the courtyard of God’s, the colosseum,
A crowd gathered to see his loss, an axiom,
To all around, the king’s fall was bound,
For, on the ground, his body soon lounged,
And the saint who won,
Claimed he did it all for fun,
The heroics of Hercules’ heir,
Still told in every ear.
