● Give one other component that would be part of the automated system.
● Give one other sensor that could be part of the automated system.
● Identify one output device that could be used in this automated system.
● Describe the advantages and disadvantages of using automated systems instead of
human workers.
● Name three different sensors and describe three applications where they are used.
● Name a suitable sensor for each of the following situations: detecting light level,
measuring temperature, detecting movement, and measuring pressure.
● Explain the purpose of an actuator in an automated system and give one example of its
use.
● Describe how a computer and sensors are used to monitor and control a greenhouse
environment where the temperature must stay between 25°C and 30°C, and soil pH
between 4 and 5.
● Describe how sensors and a microprocessor are used to control the temperature and pH
in an industrial chemical process.
● Explain how a microprocessor uses input from sensors to control an automatic washing
machine.
● Describe how a microprocessor would use data from sensors to control an
air-conditioning system.
