Answer:D Explanation: Density = mass/volume and thus for density of the rock we need to
divide its mass with its volume. The volume of the rock can be found by displacement in which
the change in volume of the liquid level equals the volume of the rock making D the answer
Answer:C Explanation: Density = mass/volume and thus for this question we can calculate the
density of each object individually by dividing mass with volume (product of every side). This
gives us 5,6,7,4 for A,B,C,D respectively making C the correct answer
Answer:D Explanation: Power = work done/time and as work done in this scenario is the gain in
GPE of the children we can rewrite the equation as mgh/t .Moreover as g and h are constant we
can conclude that Power is directly proportional to mass and inversely proportional to time
P=m/t. Thus the lowest time with the highest mass gives us the highest power making D the
correct option
Answer:D Explanation: Tidal, wave and hydroelectric energy sources use the movement of
water to turn turbines while nuclear energy uses energy to boil water and produce steam to turn
turbines
Answer:D Explanation: The graph shown is for two quantities that are directly proportional as it
is a straight line that passes through the origin (0,0). As weight is one of the quantities for a
cord, it is directly proportional to extension which is measured length - original length, making D
the correct answer
Answer:A Explanation: The question is asking for the extension which is measured length -
original length. At 20N the measured length is 8 while the original length is 5, making the
extension 3
Answer:D Explanation: The instrument shown is a measuring cylinder which is used to
measure volume of a liquid
Answer:A Explanation: A measuring cylinder can be used to measure volume of the block by
displacement while metre rule can be used to make measurements and calculate volume
through formula.
Answer:D Explanation: A spring balance is used to determine the weight of an object. It does
not measure temperature or volume, so B and C are wrong. The density of an object is
measured by the formula density = mass/volume, and since none of those quantities are
measured by the weighing balance, A is also wrong leaving D as the only logical answer.
Answer:B Explanation: The correct answer is B since weight can change depending on the
gravitational field strength but mass always remains constant.
Answer:C Explanation: Since the beam is in equilibrium, then according to the principle of
moments, the resultant torque must be zero and the resultant force must be zero. A is wrong
because if F1=F2=F3 then total upwards force, F3, is not equal to total downward force, F1+F2. B
is impossible because the beam has no torque or resultant direction so they cannot be opposite
to each other. C matches with the law of static equilibrium and is correct. D is wrong because it
suggests that the total upward force is not equal to 0.
