Defining Force:
Force is the rate of change of momentum.
Resultant Force:
F = ((mv-mu)/t)
Thus resultant force “F” = change in momentum/time or = ma.
Defining Impulse:
It is the product between force and time.
F*t=mv-mu thus change in momentum = impulse = F*t.
Principle of the Conservation of Momentum:
In an enclosed/isolated system the sum of momentum before collision
equals to sum of momentum after collision thus momentum is conserved.
In the above example, two balls are moving and they collide with each
other and move separately. “u” is velocity before collision and “v” is velocity
after collision. In this case principle of momentum can be applied.
