converted from Gravitational potential energy to Kinetic energy (due to its
speed). In this case not all Gravitational Potential energy is converted into
Kinetic energy because some energy may be lost as heat. But if given that
there is no heat energy lost then Gain in kinetic energy will be equal to
Loss in Gravitational potential energy and formula to calculate Kinetic
energy will be: ½ (m)(v)^2= mgh (“m” can be canceled out thus we don't
need mass of an object in this case)
Example 2)
When a candle is burning then chemical energy is converted to heat and
light energy
This Sankey diagram shows how energy is converted and wasted during
events or processes.
POWER:
Power is work done per unit time or energy transferred per unit time.
Its SI unit is Watt “W” or “J/s”
Power= Work/time = (F x d)/Time
Power= Energy/time = mgh/time=½(m)(v)^2/time
