• Magnesium (Mg)
Calcium (Ca)
• Strontium (Sr)
• Barium (Br)
• Radium (Ra)
They have 2 electrons in their outer shell.
The Group II trends include:
• Melting/Boiling points decrease down the group.
• Density increases down the group.
• Reactivity increases down the group.
e.g. of reactions with water:
(Mg is an exception, and reacts slow with water)
(Mg reacts fast with steam)
Group VII (Halogens):
The Group VII elements include:
• Fluorine (F)
• Chlorine (Cl)
• Bromine (Br)
• Iodine (I)
• Astatine (At)
They exist as diatomic gases in their free state and have 7 electrons in their outer-shell.
