The ACMUN Society: A C1’s Perspective
The ACMUN Society is one of Aitchison College’s largest and
oldest societies, far surpassing its brethren, i.e., the Science and
Entrepreneurial Society. The society has been labeled as the best
society by many. It was started some 14+ years ago by our very own
HMSS, Ma’am Amina, who helped it blossom and nurtured it during
the early years of its establishment. Soon after, we had our own
MUN, i.e., ACMUN. These days, ACMUN is labeled as the largest
MUN, second only to LUMUN.
The ACMUN Society is the society I’ve chosen to adopt as my
major society due to my fond and peculiar interest in public
speaking, which many find astonishing due to my quiet demeanor. It
had all started on a particularly sunny day when my friend added me
to a Messenger group for Pre-C2s wishing to do ACMUN. I was
nervous, but gentle and kind seniors explained the whole ordeal to us
core boys. They explained how we would get to partake and have a
chance to win MUNs, which greatly fascinated us. This imparted
knowledge left us with one problem, we had absolutely no clue
about how to actually do a MUN. That’s when we were told that
there would be camps hosted to help us learn MUNs, which would
be hosted by our seniors. Personally, I also saw this as an opportunity
to bond and develop a connection with my seniors.
I still remember my first ACMUN camp. The auditorium was
brimming with energetic kids hustling about, the whites of their
shirts serving as a contrast to the deep, eccentric blue theme of the
auditorium. As we were hushed and shushed, our introductions and
reasons for joining the society were taken.
