Adventure of a Lifetime
Aitchison College's trekking expedition through northern Pakistan was an
unforgettable journey, immersing us in the region's raw beauty and rich
culture. Starting with the challenging Nanga Parbat Base Camp trek, we
enjoyed a lunch stop in Balakot, then headed through Naran, where we
played in the snow at Babusar Top before reaching Astore. After a night at
Wazir Mahal Hotel, we set off on a thrilling jeep ride to Rama Lake, where
we bonded with locals through cricket matches and traditional dances.
Camping under the stars in Tarishing, we shared stories around a crackling
bonfire.
The next leg led us to the historic Herligkoffer Base Camp and across the
Bazhin Glacier to Latobo Meadows, where we were greeted by snowfall
over the shimmering Latobo Lake. Returning to Tarishing, we visited a local
school, fostering a memorable connection with the community. The
adventure continued to Chillum Chowki and Burzil Top, where we played
in the snow and honored the Kargil War Memorial, before reaching
Minmarg near the Indo-Pak border.
On our final night, we were warmly hosted by our local guide's family,
deepening our connection to the land and its people. To our surprise, we
spotted three brilliant rainbows over a lake near Nanga Parbat, painting a
perfect ending to our journey. With memories of the majestic Gilgit
Baltistan landscapes and its warm-hearted people, we returned home, forever
touched by this incredible expedition.
