Regional Development:
○ Water infrastructure projects (e.g., new dams like Diamer-Bhasha)
stimulate local employment, resettlement planning, and rural
modernization.
7. Water Supply Issues and Conflict
Domestic (Internal) Conflicts:
Inter-provincial tensions over distribution under IRSA allocations, especially
between Punjab and Sindh.
○ Reduced disease burden leads to lower absenteeism and higher
efficiency, directly enhancing economic performance.
Urban Development and Quality of Life:
○ Adequate domestic water supply enables urban growth, supports
housing development, and improves living standards.
○ Clean water access is tied to human capital development — children
can attend school regularly, adults can work effectively, and healthcare
burdens are reduced.
Social Stability and Gender Empowerment:
○ In rural areas, improved water access reduces the time women and
children spend fetching water, allowing greater participation in
education and economic activities.
○ This strengthens social equity and contributes to inclusive
development.
