Fish farming (aquaculture) is the controlled breeding, rearing, and harvesting
of fish in ponds, tanks, or reservoirs. It is a rectangular man made pond made
for breeding fish, consisting of cemented bases to prevent water seepage and
sides edged with mud for the same purpose, alongside trees to provide shade
as well as oxygen for the fish.
It helps increase inland fish supply, reduce pressure on marine resources, and
support rural incomes.
Methods Used:
Pond culture: Fish reared in artificial or natural ponds with controlled feeding.
