1. Fatiha (1)
a)This surah discusses the fundamental Qur’anic theme of God’s relationship with the created
world. The opening verses establish God as the Lord and Master of all creation, including the
unseen realms. He alone is worthy of all forms of worship, as He is the Most Merciful, the
Sustainer, and the Judge over all beings. The surah emphasizes that true guidance lies only in
the “Sirat al-Mustaqeem” — the Straight Path — a way of life based on righteousness, as taught
in the Qur’an and exemplified by the Prophet ﷺ. The verse, “Verily! Right guidance is the
guidance of Allah” (3:37), reinforces that those who obey God remain guided, while those who
follow their own desires stray from the path of truth.
b)Surah Al-Ikhlas holds deep significance in the spiritual life of every Muslim. It protects
believers from forms of shirk by reinforcing that Allah has no partners, family, or equals. It
reminds them to worship Him sincerely and not attach divine qualities to people, saints, or
material things. The Prophet (PBUH) said that reciting this Surah is equivalent to one-third of the
Qur’an because it summarizes the essence of Islamic faith. Muslims often recite it in their daily
prayers after Surah al-Fatiha as an expression of devotion and purity of belief. In daily life, this
Surah strengthens a believer’s faith, renews their understanding of Allah’s Oneness, and deepens
their connection to Him through acts of worship and remembrance.
