Angels as Messengers:
Appearance of Angels:
Role of Angels in Human Life:
Prominent Angels and Their Duties:
Jibril (Gabriel): Delivered Allah’s revelations to the prophets.
Mika’il (Michael): Responsible for rain and sustenance.
Izra’il: The Angel of Death, who takes souls by Allah’s command.
Angels convey Allah’s revelation to His prophets. They descend only by Allah’s
permission and fulfill their duties without error.
Quranic Reference:
“For each one are successive angels before and behind him who protect him by
Allah’s command.” (13:11)
Angels are directly involved in human existence.
They breathe the soul into the unborn child by Allah’s permission and write four
things: its gender, lifespan, deeds, and whether it will be happy or sad.
They also guard people throughout their lives.
Quranic Reference:
They strengthen the faith of believers, such as in the Battle of Badr, when angels
supported the Muslims and cast fear into the hearts of the disbelievers.
“Those who are near your Lord do not disdain to worship Him; they glorify Him
and prostrate before Him.” (7:206)
Angels have appeared in human form on several occasions:
They visited Prophet Ibrahim (A.S.) to give the glad tidings of a son.
They visited Prophet Zakariyah (A.S.) and Maryam (A.S.) to announce the births of
their sons.
Angel Jibril appeared to give Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H) to give Him the first
revelation.
Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H.) in the form of a man with “exceedingly white
clothes and black hair.”
Angel Jibril often appeared to the Prophet (P.B.U.H.) as his companion Dahya
al-Kalbi (R.A.)
He also appeared along with the Angel of Mountains, appeared after the incident at
Ta’if.
“Therein descend the angels and the Spirit by Allah’s permission with every decree.”
