Past Paper Questions:
Nature and Purpose of Angels:
Belief in angels is an essential article of faith, without which a Muslim’s belief is
incomplete.
It is mentioned in the Imaan-e-Mufassal:
“Whoever is an enemy to Allah and His angels and His messengers, to Jibril and
Mikail, then Allah is an enemy to those who reject faith.” (2:98)
Angels are created by Allah from light (Nur).
They are not His daughters or beings of worship but servants who completely obey
His command.
They do not possess free will, never disobey, and are sinless.
They exist to glorify and worship Allah and to perform the tasks assigned to them.
Quranic Reference:
• Gives courage and peace, a believer fears only Allah, remaining calm, secure, and brave
even in hardship.
• Encourages virtue and righteousness, as one knows success lies only in purity of soul and
moral conduct.
• Instills self-respect and independence, believers depend solely on Allah, not fearing or
submitting to anyone else.
• Promotes humility, knowing all blessings are from Allah prevents pride and arrogance.
• Frees the mind from myths and delusions, the conscience from humiliation, and life from
submission to others.
• Fosters unity and brotherhood, believers recognize that Allah’s mercy extends to all His
creation.
• Creates peace, contentment, and freedom from envy, as believers know that only Allah
gives and takes what He wills.
3(a) Belief in the oneness of God (tawhid) is a fundamental aspect of faith. State
how tawhid benefits Muslims in their everyday life. [10] (M/J 2017)
Belief inAngels
“I believe in Allah, in His angels, in His books, in His messengers, in the last day and
in the fact that everything good or bad is decided by Allah, the Almighty, and in life
after death.”
Angels are unseen beings created from light.
They have no physical desires or needs such as food, sleep, or rest.
They constantly worship and glorify Allah, never tiring or disobeying Him.
They are intermediaries between Allah and mankind, carrying out divine commands.
