Background:
The Partition of Bengal was introduced by Lord Curzon in 1905 mainly for
administrative convenience.
Bengal was the largest province in British India, covering 189,000 sq. miles
with a population of 84 million, including Bengal, Bihar, and Orissa.
It was too vast to be efficiently governed by one Lieutenant Governor
due to limited communication, difficult terrain, and population density.
